The basket at the national median, day by day
Aug 21, 2026 to Oct 6, 2026: ₪1,001 → ₪1,004. Days when the archive covered few chains are left out, and when a new chain joined the collection the line did not move because of it (only price changes move it). The per-chain ranking has been saved daily since Oct 6, 2026.

A different store type, or under 70% of the basketHow we built the basket
- What's in: everyday household needs — dairy, bread and eggs, pantry, coffee, snacks, drinks, frozen food, cleaning, personal care and baby. No tobacco and no alcohol.
- One product per need: a specific barcode — the best-selling pack of its kind on the day the basket was set (usually sold at 20+ chains and 800+ stores). So a change in the basket is a price change, not a product swap.
- What's out: fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish are sold by weight under each chain's own codes, so they can't be compared barcode to barcode.
- A chain's price for a product: the median shelf price across the chain's stores that sell it, from the files the chains publish by law. "After deals" means deals open to every shopper, without a club card.
- Fair comparison when a product is missing: almost no chain sells all 65 products. So we compute an index: the chain's total for the products it has, divided by the national median total for exactly those products, times the cost of the full basket. A chain is ranked only if it has at least 70% of the basket.
- Convenience stores, pharmacies and online shops sell a different basket and are listed separately.
